Xiaomi unveils power efficient Mi Max 2 with 2 days of battery life

When Xiaomi released Mi Max back in 2016, it was just the device many of us wanted. Mid-range Android performer with big display and battery. Today Xiaomi announces Mi Max 2 in China, which will be available from June 1 priced RMB 1699 (around $250). The device comes with the power-efficient Snapdragon 625 chipset with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB or 128 GB of internal storage space, a massive 5300 mAh battery and improved design over the first iteration. As for the dimensions, the handset comes in at 174.1 x 88.7 x 7.6mm. This handset sport a 6.44-inch display, just like its predecessor, and we’re, once again, looking at a fullHD panel here.

The Mi Max 2 has a 12MP rear camera and uses the Sony IMX386 sensor with Xiaomi promising a bigger pixel size for better low-light shots. The Mi Max 2 rear camera has a 1.25μm large pixel size, with the company saying the sensor is identical to the one used on the high-end Xiaomi Mi 6, which is their flagship phone. The front-facing camera, meanwhile, comes in at 5 MP with an 85-degree wide-angle lens.

Xiaomi made sure the Mi Max 2 is a beast when it comes to battery life. The 5,300 mAh pack comes with QuickCharge 3.0, and the company says that one-hour charging fills 2/3 of the capacity. The device has stereo speakers and a fingerprint sensor on the reverse. Further, the Mi Max 2 includes an IR Blaster and will run MIUI 8 based on Android Nougat 7.1.1.
