Xiaomi announces new Android One hanset Mi A1with Stock OS

Launched a few years ago, the Android One initiative represents Google’s effort to provide affordable devices to buyers in developing markets who can’t afford expensive Android handsets. However, the journey of Android One phones is not as good as it's intention sounds. But the scenario might change soon courtesy of Xiaomi's Mi A1. The metal-bodied new flagship phone was announced in New Delhi, India, and will hit 40 countries, including Bangladesh, Russia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Mexico, later this month. Basically, Xiaomi has rebranded its Mi 5X smartphone and put Google’s pure Android experience at the centre of the computing interface that will be used by the end user.

After three years of using MIUI, it's bizarre to see stock Android running on a Xiaomi phone. It's certainly a welcome change, as the addition of stock Android makes the Mi A1 one of the best devices in this segment. You're not going to notice any lags or slowdowns.

Xiaomi didn't cut any corners when it comes to the internal hardware as well. The Mi A1 features a 5.5-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 625, 4GB of RAM, 64GB storage, microSD slot, dual 12MP cameras, 5MP front camera, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.2, LTE with VoLTE, and a 3080mAh battery.

The Xiaomi Mi A1 comes in Black, Gold or Pink and costs 14,999 rupees ($233). The phone is unmistakably premium, and Xiaomi has done a fantastic job refining its design aesthetic. It is going to be available in 37 countries across the globe and sales are starting on September 12 in various online and offline stores.
