Apple Watch series 2 will be LTE capable [rumor]
According to a new report from CNBC, upcoming Apple Watch series 3 wearables will be LTE enable and it will have an embedded SIM rather than physical SIM card. And the watch will be officially unveiled alongside the iPhone 8 in September. Apple Watch has always been required to be linked to an iPhone in order to receive texts or make calls. Previous info claims Apple working with Intel for LTE modem chips, and four major US carriers: AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon to make successful LTE implementation on their Watch. Adding cellular connectivity will allow people to carry out tasks such as streaming music without the need for an iPhone present. The new Watch will not replace the iPhone, but it will be able to act as a phone in instances where the iPhone isn’t present, like during workouts.
Reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities also predicts the Apple Watch 3 will ship later this year with both LTE and non-LTE models offered and will retain the same current general design.
