Intel Kaby Lake CPU listing and pricing revealed
Intel has already started to sell low-power dual-core Core i5/i7 Kaby Lake microprocessors for notebooks, but desktop parts with four cores and high frequencies are due in early 2017. And until now we've not known all the details of desktop variants. But by the courtesy of an Intel-provided PDF intended for manufacturing partners, the specs for the desktop versions of Intel's "Kaby Lake" CPUs have leaked onto the internet. The notification lists a total of seven Core i5 processors and three Core i7s.
Kaby Lake will work on many existing 100-series motherboards, but Intel will have 200-series chipsets, the lineup will include the Z270 PCH for enthusiast-class PCs with overclocking capabilities; Q270, H270 and H250 for mainstream systems and B250 for office/business computers. The good news is existing 100-series motherboards will also support the kay lake CPUs.
The Intel Core i7 is built on 14nm technology, with the 7700K coming with a base frequency of 4.2GHz. The locked Core i7-7700 will be clocked at 3.6GHz, while the i7-7700T will be clocked at 2.9GHz. Turbo figures are still up in the air but previous reports have pointed to the 7700K boosting all of the way up to 4.5GHz. As far as Intel Core i5 CPUs go, the 7600K clocks in at 3.8GHz, while the locked i5-7600 comes with a 3.5GHz clock speed.
According to wccftech, Core i5 7600K will launch at $239 with the locked version launching at $219. And Core i7 7700K will launch at the $349 price point, while the locked i7-7700 will come in at $309 in the US.
