The Divergent Series: Insurgent (also known as Insurgent) is a 2015 science fiction adventure film directed by Robert Schwentke, based on Insurgent, the second book in the Divergent trilogy, written by Veronica Roth. It is the sequel to the 2014 film Divergent. "Insurgent" appears to be the story of a girl who lives in a world made entirely of giant windows who is determined to lead a revolution by jumping through panes of glass at every opportunity. The plot of Insurgent takes place three days after the previous installment and continues to follow Tris Prior; Tris and Four are on the run after evading a hostile takeover from Jeanine and the rest of Erudite.
In a futuristic dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions: Abnegation (the selfless, Amity (the peaceful), Candor (the truthful), Erudite (the intelligent) and Dauntless (the brave), based on their personalities. Beatrice Prior (Shailene Woodley) is in Abnegation, the faction that looks after the factionless, those who don't fit in any faction, as well as runs the government; though she has always been fascinated by Dauntless. Since Divergent people can think independently and government cannot conform their thinking, they are considered threats to the social orders.
