Firefox 4 Supports Full Multi-Touch Features of Windows 7

The Web is all about innovation, and Firefox sets the pace with dozens of new features to deliver a faster, more secure and customizable Web browsing experience for all. The 3rd beta of Firefox 4 has been released by Mozilla. Firefox 4 b3 includes support for multi-touch in Windows 7. This will allow users to interact with the browser without needing a mouse.

While it could be argued that multi-touch support in Windows 7 would already allow this, the new version of Firefox will fully implement the feature allowing scrolling and pinch zooming in the browser itself. As Mozilla Organization said-
Developers can use multi-touch capabilities to leverage touch-enabled devices and provide people with an intuitive and fun browsing experience.
Beta 3 also brings changes to how JavaScript is executed, enabling the browser to process code more efficiently. This is also something Microsoft have been working on with Internet Explorer 9.

The beta is available publicly and Mozilla say they will welcome feedback, through a special Feedback Add-on which is bundled. All feedback is anonymous and they say “ is used to help us improve future Firefox Beta releases.”

While Firefox 4 may lack the hardware graphics rendering acceleration of IE9, it does now gain automatic updating. This is a feature that is long overdue and will only help the browser claw back some of the market share they have lost in recent months.
